DIARY ENTRY POINTS TO MOM-DAUGHTER DOUBLE SUICIDE IN DRUG RAID

CLEVELAND, TX -- A diary entry indicates a joint suicide attempt
resulted in a Cleveland woman's death and her mother's wounding as a
drug raid on their home started, a detective said Monday.

Though the shootings -- which left Lisa Wiggins, 23, dead -- occurred
Nov. 18, Liberty County Sheriff's Detective Ivan Pearce said her
mother was so badly wounded that authorities have been unable to
question her.

Pearce said that beside the mother, Roselyn Wiggins, 45, authorities
found a diary in which was written: "I did myself. Lisa did herself."

The mother, he said, told officers at the scene that she shot herself
rather than face the possibility of jail.

Pearce said when officers with the Liberty-Chambers County Narcotics
Task Force knocked on the front door of the Wiggins home on Plum Tree
Drive just outside of Cleveland, two men were seen running out the
back door, and then gunshots were heard inside the mobile home.

Inside they found Lisa Wiggins dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.
A .32-caliber revolver was in her hand, Pearce said.

Roselyn Wiggins also suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest. She
was taken by helicopter to Hermann Hospital in Houston, where she was
listed in good condition Monday.

A second gun was not found, but since surgeons have not yet removed
the bullet from Roselyn Wiggins, authorities are not sure the women
were shot by the same gun, Pearce said
