CLEAN UP ADDICTS - BY FORCE IF NEED BE
Editor:
Regarding Proposedsafe-Injection Sites And Drug Problems:
Such sites willnot solve the problem. Doing street drugs is illegal.
Why would we enable anyone to commit a crime?
By giving these drug users a "safe" place to shoot up, that is
exactly what would be happening.
Such a site wouldbe funded by taxpayers' money - my money. So I feel
I should have some say.
Is there going to be any kindof referendum or meeting where I can
voice my opinion? Who will be supplying insurance for this project?
Who will take the responsibilityif something should go wrong and
someone dies as a direct result of using such a facility?
In whose neighbourhood would such a site be located?
Who wantsthis facilitynext door to them? Do you? I certainly don't.
Who is going to supply them with their drugs?
If there is no supply, crime in the surrounding area is sure to go up.
Anyone living close by will then have the right to be a victim.
I'll betno one reading this can say they have not been a victim
themselves or that they do not personally know of someone that has.
All we have been doing so far is chasing these drug abusers from one
neighbourhood to another.
Is this the kind of thing the Tournament Capital of Canada wants to promote?
Taxpayers had better wake up because the way I see it, our tax
dollars are going to be used - not for the betterment ofour
community, but to commit and encourage crime.
Now here's what I think needs to be done.
These people need to be rounded upand cleaned up - forcibly if necessary.
Then, they need to be taught how to become productive citizens.
Yes, I know this would be in violationof their rights, but these
people are so out of control that they have forfeited any rights, in
my opinion.
This could be done in places like the former Rayleigh correctional
facility, which has been shut down and is now sitting empty.
This would at least be constructive to them andto our community.
So instead of wastingour tax dollars, let'sget productive with them.
People need to wake up and speak upagainst such safe-injection site plans.
I know it's not politically correct to do so, but not is it
politically correct to become victims of our streets.
Weare taxpaying citizens. We also have rights.
