CAMPBELL'S COURAGE

I'm a Democrat who, when he learned to read, became a Republican who, when
he understood what he was reading, became a Libertarian.

I'll vote for Tom Campbell for U.S. Senate simply because he is the first
major politician with the wisdom and the courage to advocate changes that
make any sense in the fear- and avarice-driven drug war (Opinion, Dec. 13).

We have many intelligent alternatives to the present system, but the vested
interests (asset forfeitures, prison guard unions, do-gooder morality and
the criminals selling drugs) have howled whenever someone even hints at
change. Thank you, Tom Campbell.
