... According to the Bills of Attainder Project, there are currently
more than 300 laws in the United States allowing governments to
confiscate private property without the benefit of due process.

One such measure, a byproduct of the war on drugs, is the
asset-forfeiture law, which allows government to seize private
property that might have been used in a crime or purchased with the
proceeds of a crime. Because they don't require the inconvenience of
due process, these laws flout the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
