TOP POLICE CHIEF QUITS AFTER SCANDAL
Japan's top police chief resigned after allegations of drug abuse and
sexual harassment stained his force's image. National Police Agency chief
Yuko Sekiguchi, 60, said his resignation did not imply that he was taking
responsibility for any wrongdoing. A scandal in a Tokyo suburb last year
centered on allegations that senior officials had covered up drug abuse by
an agent. Officers in Kanagawa prefecture were also allegedly involved in
sexual harassment of colleagues.
