NUMBERS GIVE REASON FOR HOPE
* Percent of a group of 1,024 Alaskan substance abusers in residential
treatment who were dependent on alcohol: 70 .*
* Percent dependent on marijuana: 23.
* Percent dependent on cocaine: 19.
* Percent arrested for criminal violations before undergoing
residential treatment for chemical dependency: 34.
* Percent of the same group arrested within one year after treatment:

* Percent arrested for traffic violations before treatment:

* Percent arrested for traffic violations within one year after
treatment: 5.
* Percent involved in motor vehicle accidents before treatment:
20.
* Percent involved in motor vehicle accidents within one year after
treatment: 9
* Percent who reported having been physically abused before age 18:

* Percent of 510 chemically dependent adults receiving outpatient care
who reported they entered treatment because they had been arrested for
