NEEDLE LOGIC
The needle-stick injury inflicted on ironman Jonathan Crowe at Elwood Beach
has understandably devastated him (Herald, January 10).
It will make many parents even more nervous about allowing their children to
play freely on our beaches. But Crowe's appeal for legal injecting rooms as
the solution is as naive as expecting that legal alcohol injecting rooms
(pubs) would prevent broken glass injuring beach- and park-goers.
Reckless indifference for anyone - including oneself - is the issue that
needs to be addressed if we are to reclaim the innocent fun of a day at the
beach.
