WEST VAN POT SEIZED

WEST Vancouver police arrested four suspects on Dec. 29 after they found
marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $100,000.

The charges are theft of hydro, production of a controlled substance and
possession of a controlled substance.

Police executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of Jefferson Avenue. The
search warrant was obtained based on information from one of the patrol
officers.

Two of the adults lived at the rented house and the other two were
harvesting the marijuana.

A three-year-old child was found on the premises and apprehended by the
ministry of child and family services because of dangerous living
conditions. Cpl. Janis Jean, West Vancouver police spokewoman, said there
is a chance of electrical fires with these operations that creates a
dangerous environment. Police were assisted by BC Hydro and a municipal
inspector, who helped to dismantle the operation.

A recommendation of charges has gone to the Crown and the four suspects
were released on a promise to appear in court.

Immigration officials have also been contacted to confirm the suspects'
citizenship.
