MCCAIN SAID NO
Senator John McCain told reporters today that he had never tried marijuana,
explaining that drug use did not escalate among troops in Vietnam until
after he had been taken prisoner. The issue arose on his campaign bus when
he said he disapproved of the medical use of marijuana by cancer and AIDS
patients. Asked if he had ever tried marijuana, the Arizona Republican
said, "No. Also remember my age: 63."
