WATCHDOG BANS HEROIN BABY AD

AN advert showing a baby who has just injected himself with heroin has been
blocked as "too shocking".

The newspaper ad from children's charity Barnardo's aimed to show what can
happen to abused or disadvantaged children without help.

It reads: "Battered as a child, it was always possible John would turn to
drugs. With Barnardo's, child abuse need not lead to an empty future."

But the Committee of Advertising Practice watchdog has asked publications
not to run the ad this weekend.

Barnardo's said it was angry their message could be seen as offensive or
distressing, since "a year's research gave them no cause for concern".
