REPORT FOCUSES ON ECSTASY

There is evidence that trade of the drug Ecstasy is growing in the city,
according to a report to be released this week by the provincial coroner's
office. The report will also reveal how many Ecstasy overdose cases were
treated in city hospitals, who has been using the drug, and what the
effects are. Nine known deaths from the drug occurred in 1999, said deputy
chief coroner Jim Cairns. The report, which follows an investigation, will
also provide details about a death just before New Year's involving a
suspected overdose of
Ecstasy.
