PLAYING WAR GAMES
It doesn't appear to me that we are engaged in a drug war - it looks more
like war games!
If we can't go after the enemy using political and military power through
treaties and the UN, the least we could do is build a decent shield around
our borders. Concrete walls with soil probes to detect tunneling would
solve much of the illegal alien problem at the same time.
If we were in a war, we would also try to protect the potential victims. We
have a "Just say no" campaign that is overwhelmed by a barrage of other
messages: A President who doesn't inhale and otherwise continually violates
laws and moral standards, a culture that promotes hedonism, a legal system
that stifles moral values, and a media that sends all the wrong messages.
