WAR ON DRUGS IS GOING WELL FOR THOSE WHO DEPEND ON IT
I always appreciate your intentions when you at the Register periodically
point out the downside of our nation's Drug War, but why not take a
different approach to the subject? The plain and simple truth is that the
Drug War will not be changing or ending anytime soon because it is working
for so many powerful entities and industries.
Examples of those who benefit include the legal, pharmaceutical, weapons,
law enforcement, international banking and media industries. I'm sure you
can think of more.
From a freedom standpoint, we may hate the Drug War, but we must have
respect for something so successfully executed. It is the most perfectly
developed program ever conceived to fulfill our apparent need-for-a-war
mentality while funnelling public funds to protect the status quo. And to
many in white collars, getting their hands on government money is the name
of the game.
