RAVERS' BIG NIGHT ENDS IN HOSPITAL

Four young people were hospitalized yesterday after overdosing at two
overnight raves.

Toronto Police said three party-goers overdosed during a rave of up to
3,000 people at the Liquid Lounge on Dufferin St., near Finch Ave., shortly
before 6 a.m.

The most seriously ill, a 21-year-old Toronto man, remained in guarded
condition yesterday at York-Finch hospital, police said.

Drugs found on the man have been sent to the police drug lab to determine
what they are.

The two other stricken partyers, a 21-year-old Scarborough man and a
24-year-old Brampton man, were also rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police said the pair, likely to be released yesterday, were "hesitant" to
disclose what drugs they had taken.

Around 8 a.m., emergency crews were called for a 17-year-old girl at an
another all-night dance party.

The girl overdosed in the Spin Cat club on Isabella St., near Church and
Wellesley Sts., as hundreds of revellers were heading home, police said.
She was in stable condition at Toronto General hospital yesterday, police
said.

Staff-Sgt. Ken Kinsman said the girl or her friends told police she had
used Ecstasy, adding the drug can cause violent reactions in people for
different reasons.

"It may not have been taking too much," he said of the girl's overdose. "It
could have been a very potent batch or the drugs could have been of very
bad quality."
