STOP INSANE TALK OF LEGALIZING MARIJUANA
I recently read an article about the legalizaton of drugs. I never really
thought about the controversy over legalizing drugs. What really popped
into my mind was the issue of marijuana, one of the biggest distributed
drugs in society.
Although I understand the philosophy behind the legalization of drugs, I
still believe the use of drugs is wrong, especially the use of marijuana.
Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in society today. Many are
introduced to pot every day.
Read the statistics; smoking pot kills you. According to the Division of
Alcohol and Drug Abuse, some immediate effects of marijuana inclide a
faster heartbeat, bloodshot eyes, dry moouth, yellow teeth and bad breath.
Does this sound like the picture of perfect health?
You won't have to worry about going out either. According to the ADA,
marijuana is the cause of "acute panic anxiety." This fear of public
places will lead a user into reclusion.
Accorking to CNN Interactive. the body absorbs the main ingredient in
marijuana, THC, which eases the pain. That's what drugs do. Isn't that
why drug addicts need drugs, so they can ease the pain?
In such a technological age, why use marijuana as medicine? A prescription
is needed to obtain marijuana for this purpose, but did anybody consider
the fact that people might be distributing their prescription for
money? Anyone can steal this prescription from a family member. Users
could forge prescriptions if thier need is great.
Does this sound legal? Will there soon be marijuana ads on the back of our
magazines? Or a funky looking camel with a joint in his hand?
CNN Interactive also states that there are critics who believe that the
wording of such laws that legalize pot for medical use are so vague that
they basically legalize pot for anyone.
We shouldn't have to worry about what is worded and how so. We should be
worried about how this slide into the legalization of medicinal pot
influences our children and how their children will be affected if we don't
take a stand and stop this insane talk of ligalizing marijuana, or any drug
for that matter.
