'ALICE IN LOCKNEY'

Re: "Lockney district to test students, teachers for drugs," Texas &
Southwest, Jan. 30.

So, "students from sixth through 12th grades and all teachers in the Lockney
Independent School District will be tested for drugs." Whatever they teach
in Lockney, it's not the Constitution. The most basic right of a free people
is the right to be left alone -- no nonsense about "probable cause" for
Lockney.

"'It's a long story, but society has just brought us to this point,' (said)
Superintendent Raymond Lusk." And apparently their leader is not big on
personal responsibility.

"Parents have been asked to sign consent forms. If parents refuse, the tests
are considered positive." Maybe they teach (but don't understand) Alice in
Wonderland??? "Let the jury consider their verdict," said the King (who
preferred verdicts before the trial). "No, no!" said the Queen, "Sentence
first, verdict afterward."

Where there's a war on drugs, can a swastika or a hammer and sickle be far
behind? You can have a free America or a drug-free America, but you can't
have both.
