AREA DARE PROGRAMS TO GET DPS CHECKS TO BOOST EFFORTS
Area Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) programs will add to their
coffers today at 2 p.m. when Texas Department of Public Safety
officials present them with checks up to $1,000 at the Amarillo DPS
office, DPS Trooper Wayne Williams said.
The money, generated by DPS fund-raising, will go toward educating
students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, Williams said.
"This is our way of giving back to the community," said Williams,
district representative for DARE.
Those receiving checks today include: Potter County DARE, $1,000;
Randall County DARE, $1,000; Quanah DARE, $250; Hutchinson County
DARE, $750; and Dalhart DARE, $500.
