DRUGS ARE OK SAYS NOEL

OASIS rocker Noel Gallagher was at the centre of a new controversy last
night after insisting drugs were "all part of growing up".

Noel insisted "almost all drugs are good" and said the vast majority of the
public saw drug-taking as "no big deal".

In next week's issue of music magazine NME Noel, whose band are at No1 with
new single Go Let It Out said: "I think they're all good, actually.

"I've had good times on them all. As long as you use them in the right way
and don't abuse them and don't let them f* you up, they're f top."

He added: "As soon as people accept that in this country we are in the midst
of a massive drug culture and have been since the dawn of the 80s the
better."

The millionaire guitarist and songwriter recently admitted he would allow
his new baby daughter, Anais, to take drugs provided it wasn't in his own
home.

Alistair Ramsay, of Scotland Against Drugs, said: "People who are in the
public eye must be very careful about comments on sensitive issues.

"We need to give a very sound and clear message that not taking drugs is the
majority position."

Ted Kessler of NME said: "Noel was answering readers' questions and was
being quite honest."

Meanwhile, Noel said last night he would take his children to the council
estate where he grew up to show them the meaning of poverty.

"My kids will never know the meaning of what it's like to sign on but they
will have a pretty good idea," he said on a radio programme. "They are going
back to that estate whether they like it or not.

"They have got to understand it's not all Rolls-Royces, film premieres, fur
jackets and hanging out with the latest supermodels."
