JUDGE HAS BEEN WATCHING TOO MANY POLICE SHOWS

Dear Editor,

Parents who are struggling to keep their kids off drugs must be
disheartened by the recent decision of Circuit Judge Dennis Scwhartz
to supress evidence because a trooper waited 15 minutes for a
drug-sniffing canine to arrive at the scene of a traffic stop.

This decision appears to be discretionary on the part of Judge
Schwartz and; therefore, he bears sole responsibility for his ruling.
I guess we should be grateful to Judge Schwartz for not returning the
741 pounds of marijuana to the defendant and sending him on his way to
complete his delivery.

Why not carry this ruling over to homicide and rape investigations?
If the police cannot arrest someone in 15 minutes then all of the
suspects can leave the scene. Perhaps, the judge may be watching too
many police drama shows on TV where cases are neatly wrapped up in 60
minutes. If so, I suggest he watch Judge Judy. Her rulings make more
sense than his.
