MEXICO IS HEADQUARTERS FOR DRUGS, ENVOY SAYS
U.S. Ambassador Jeffrey Davidow said Thursday that Mexico has become the
world headquarters for the drug trade.
"The fact is that the headquarters of drug trafficking is in Mexico ...
just like the headquarters of the Mafia is in Sicily," Davidow ssaid,
speaking in Spanish before a group of alumni from the University of
Southern California in Mexico City.
Officials at the Mexican president's offices, the Foreign Ministry and the
Attorney General's Office had no immediate reaction to Davidow's remarks.
