IF YOU DID THE CRIME, JUST ACCEPT THE TIME

So, the wheels of justice can actually turn quickly.

In a span of roughly 24 hours earlier this week, a B.C. man was nabbed
by the RCMP on the Trans-Canada Highway, pleaded guilty, was convicted
of drug trafficking and sentenced to three years in prison.

Considering how court trials often take months, if not years, usually
with multiple adjournments, this was justice moving at the speed of
light. And it was very refreshing.

It would be nice if the Canadian judicial system could move at a
similar speed in a number of other cases.

Of course, those who have been charged are entitled to a lawyer and a
fair trial, if they so desire, but if they know they are guilty, then
why not follow Martin Brazeau's lead?

In court on Wednesday, Brazeau said: "I know I done the crime," and
for that, he wanted to do the time.

Brazeau is a model for any other criminal out there who knows he or
she has been caught red-handed. They have already been caught and know
they are guilty, so why waste taxpayers' time and money with lengthy
proceedings.

This won't likely happen, as many others will try to push to get away
with their crimes, but Brazeau deserves some kind praise for accepting
his guilt and realizing it is better just to get it over with.
