COLOMBIA SEIZES COCAINE
BOGOTA, Colombia, Feb. 27 - Colombian police said today that they had
seized 2,970 pounds of pure cocaine, worth up to $48 million wholesale in
the United States, during a raid on a luxury home in the southwest city of
Cali.
It was the biggest seizure in the city since 1995, just before the arrest
of the billionaire capos of the Cali drug mob, which once reputedly
supplied up to 80 percent of the world's cocaine.
The police said that the cocaine had been headed for the United States by
way of Guatemala and Mexico.
