CONCERNING 'IN NZ WE ARE KILLING OUR KIDS WITH CANNABIS'
Sir,
Bruce Logan's article on cannabis (February 28) should reinforce people's
awareness of the harmful short and long term effects of cannabis smoking.
Any comparison of it with alcohol is quite irrelevant. While health
professionals are urging people to stop smoking tobacco and to reduce their
consumption of alcohol and other drugs which impair sound judgment, we have
a man in Parliament promoting the use of cannabis. What a bad example he is
to young people.
Any parliamentarian who supports the decriminalisation of marijuana use will
lose as many votes as he gains. Parliament must not give it the stamp of
approval, even in small quantities.
