LOSING OUR RIGHTS

To The Editor:

Mr. Tom Hall, Herman and others that are pro-gun are missing the bigger
picture! (Sun Mar 5 2000)

Crime has been on a steady decline. Since 1994 Murder down 45%. Auto theft
down 38%. Robbery down 35%. Burglary down 27%. Assault down 22%. Rape down
13%.

It’s our failed drug policy that will take away your right to bare arms,
the 2nd amendment.

You state what’s next, the first, the fourth amendment?

Pick up a March issue of Readers Digest and go to pg. 136. Guilty Until
Proven Innocent. Property is taken and people are searched every day in the
U.S. on probable cause. That was legislated from our failed drug policies.

Have you heard about drug testing? That’s the biggest invasion of your
privacy. That’s not about your working ability, its about what you did at
home last weekend or the weekend before or even what you did a month ago at
home on a weekend.

Read the police briefs. Ever wonder how some one gets charged with
possession of marijuana after being stopped for a head light out! Do you
think they jump out of their car and hand the officer a pipe so he can
scrape out the residue and charge them with possession. Something is not
right!

As you see in the letters from Harlond Davis and William Lewis people are
being charged without committing a crime. Kind of makes you wonder what
is going to happen as we continually hire more drug investigators.

Contrary to what president Clinton and Citizens Against Illegal Drugs say.
The number one killer of our kids is automobiles not guns or illegal drugs.
Many web site will verify that.
