WHY GLORIFY DRUG?
I am deeply concerned about the irresponsible journalism demonstrated
by the article "Hug drug intoxicating Denverites." The story reads
like an invitation for Denver's young people to try ecstasy for
themselves. After several paragraphs touting the benefits of the drug,
the writer finally gets around to mentioning that the drug is illegal
and can cause serious brain problems.
Not only does the article talk about the drug's effects, it goes on to
mention where you can buy the drug, where to find information on
making the drug, and the fact that you probably won't be caught using
the drug.
The article is decidedly one-sided in favor of drug use and hardly
mentions the downsides. I would think that a paper dedicated to
improving the community it serves, as I have found The Post to be in
the past, would not condone the publishing of an article promoting
illegal drug use and would certainly not have put it on the front page.
