ALLOW ADULTS TO DECIDE ON CANNABIS
Sir-If Bruce Logan (March 15) wants to keep children drug-free, then he is
going about it the wrong way.
Parliament's cannabis inquiry concluded that young people react against
hypocrisy, in that alcohol and tobacco cause obvious harms, and yet cannabis
is criminalised when its harms are less apparent.
Instead of spending hundreds of millions sending very confusing messages
through an inequitable use of law, surely the way to enable recognition and
minimisation of the risks of these drugs is to have consistency in the age
of consent - and respect for the adult's right to decide.
