LEGAL POT PLANNED: PAPER
Britain's Labour government is to legalize the use of cannabis for
medicinal purposes, the Independent reported today in London. The
newspaper said the controversial move was a compromise between Cabinet
Office Minister Mo Mowlam, who wanted a government-ordered review of
whether cannabis should be decriminalized, and Prime Minister Tony
Blair and Home Secretary (interior minister) Jack Straw, who both
adamantly opposed any relaxation of the law.
