POOR ROLE MODELS
CONCERNING THE arrests of the students at Oviedo and Seminole high schools:
I am so confused. If I am to take my cue from the parents of these kids,
then I need to change the wording of the speech I give my second-grader
about drugs.
"Oh, Johnny, it's OK to use drugs because you've been such a good kid!"
No matter how much the undercover officers may or may not have "bugged" the
suspects, it is still illegal and harmful to possess, use and sell drugs.
What sort of parents get angry at the authorities when their children
knowingly and willingly break the law?
Let's not forget that their children are accused of doing something harmful
to themselves, too.
I hope they realize that the message they put forth was a very poor example
of parenting. Gee, no wonder some kids today are so lacking in common sense
and responsibility. What great role models they have.
