WAR ON DRUGS SIMPLE EXTORTION

After reading the article about the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling giving
police officers the right to search a civilian based on their perception of
the odor of pot, I once again languish in despair at societal-imposed
paranoid fascism ("Odor of pot permits search, court rules," March 18).

I suppose in the future I can look forward to being pulled over for looking
like I'm in a hurry, sounding like I'm in a murderous rage or just plain
seeming suspicious.

The "war on drugs" - what a farce. It doesn't exist, and even if it did, it
shouldn't. The "war on drugs" rhetoric is yet another way for our
government to extort more money from the middle class through taxes and fines.

You can't have a war unless there are two opposing sides. Drugs and
political extortion of tax dollars sleep in the same bed.
