STING AND STAKEOUT DEAL BLOW TO 2 DRUG NETWORKS

THE Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested two Malaysian drug traffickers
and seized nearly 1 kg of cannabis in an undercover operation on Tuesday.
After a tip-off that a Malaysian man was selling cannabis in the vicinity
of Woodlands, two CNB undercover officers started negotiating with him.

The officers met the 23-year-old cleaner and his accomplice, a 25-year-old
unemployed male, at a car park in Woodlands Street 31.

The accomplice took one of the officers to a parked motorcycle and showed
him a plastic bag with three sealed cigarette cartons.

When the officer realised that they contained four slabs of cannabis
weighing 976 g, he signalled to CNB officers in hiding.

Both traffickers were arrested and their Malaysian-registered motorcycle
was seized.

In another bust on the same day, the CNB arrested a heroin courier, a
trafficker and nine drug users following a four-day stakeout of a
residential block.

The CNB found out that a supplier was about to deliver drugs to Block 701,
Yishun Street 71.

Detectives put the place under surveillance on Saturday. Their quarry, the
courier, a 31-year-old unemployed male, was nabbed on the staircase landing
of the ninth floor of the block.

He was carrying a plastic bag containing five packets of heroin weighing
2.3 kg.

In follow-up operations, CNB officers raided a flat in Bedok South Avenue 3
and arrested the drug trafficker.

The nine users were arrested at their residences around the island. Five of
them tested positive for controlled drugs.

The CNB said the nine were in league with the trafficker. Some helped him
to push the drugs while others introduced drug addicts to him.
