DORISMONDS SUE FOR REPORTS
The family of Patrick M. Dorismond, the unarmed man killed in a struggle
with an undercover detective last month, filed a lawsuit yesterday in
State Supreme Court in Manhattan to get access to autopsy and
toxicology reports. As in all killings, Manhattan prosecutors have barred
the city medical examiner's office from releasing the reports until the
conclusion of their investigation. A spokeswoman for the Manhattan
district attorney's office would not comment. Philip M. Damashek, the
lawyer for the Dorismond family, said the family needed the reports to
counter a campaign by city officials to discredit the victim. He cited
unconfirmed news reports that traces of marijuana had been found in
Mr. Dorismond's body.
