DEATH THREAT ANTI-DRUGS MAN DEFIANT
A HIGH-profile community worker in Antrim has vowed to defy the thugs who
have threatened his life.
The RUC has informed Seamus Davies a sinister message received on a police
helpline warned that he was under a death threat.
The community worker with Antrim Community Forum has repeatedly spoken out
against drug dealers terrorising the town's Springfarm estate.
He has had his car destroyed, his dog poisoned and steel thrown through his
window, narrowly missing his youngest child.
But he is determined not to let mob rule overrun Springfarm.
"I'm here and here I'm going to stay," he vowed.
"This anti-social element have been trying to push me out by damaging my
property and making threats against me.
"But it's not going to work.
"The community here must stand together, alongside the statutory bodies and
the police, and make these gangsters the ones who are moving out, not the
decent people who have been living here for years.
"Whole streets are emptying because these people are being moved in and
their anti-social behaviour is driving the other people out."Mr Davies said
the statutory bodies must take greater care when allocating houses.
"They are only moving the problem and not solving it when they move these
people from one estate to another throughout the town," he added.
"I have lived here for 16 years and I will not let these gangsters put me
out. If the community as a whole organises itself we can ensure that these
elements are kept out of our estates."
