MARIJUANA SERIES WAS AN INSULT TO POLICE
I read in awe your series on the marijuana war. I think it is an insult to
the many law enforcement officers who have been working hard, getting hurt,
on occasions having to arrest their own relatives and risking their lives.
It was also a cowardly written piece: flirting with both sides of the
story, but ridiculing the law enforcement part of it.
What really left me flabbergasted was a neighbor's comment stating that it
was "a war against the citizens," which I read as: "Not in my back yard. Do
whatever you have to do to control crime, but don't disturb me or my family
in the process."
Worryingly, this attitude is becoming a most common one in Hawaii.
Congratulations, you've contributed to the mediocre state of mind that
afflicts this state, and has put Hawaii in the economic situation it is in
today.
