DAY HAS CHANGED. POT HASN't
Ottawa -- Stockwell Day has admitted to being a ponytailed pot smoker
in his younger days (news -- April 18). While it's nice of him to come
clean, I hope he hasn't done this in an effort to establish
credibility with younger voters.
"I think most people will look at 30 years ago and high school and
early university, what a lot of kids were doing, including myself. I
think they'll see it in that context," Mr. Day is quoted as saying.
I hate to burst your bubble, Mr. Day, but the context in which you
smoked pot in the '70s is the very same context in which an estimated
3 million Canadians enjoy cannabis today. Perhaps it's time to forgive
everyone for partaking of the "evil weed."
