About MLA Jenny Kwan proposing to widen the distribution of Narcan, a
life-saving heroin overdose antidote:

It really dissturbs me to think that we're going to help out people
who are heroin addicts. If we give them this drug, then they're going
to do more and more heroin, thinking they don't have to worry about it
with Narcan available. No one's really trying to get heroin off the
streets, they're just helping bring it on more.

Crystal Edmondson, Langley

I don't know why I'm paying my monthly B.C. health-care bill while
these people get these things for free. It just doesn't make sense.
My taxes are paying for this?

Jerry St. Jacques, Vancouver

I used to be a junkie. I've been clean for a solid 10 years. If
things had been run the way they are now back when I was trying to go
clean, there is no way in the world I would have ever gone clean.
They're just giving these guys a licence to use. Every time they come
out and make their life easier, it just gives them another reason not
to get clean.

Paul Benbin, Vancouver

No, I don't think Narcan should be given out to heroin addicts. It
definitely wouild give them a false sense of security. MLA Jenny Kwan
says it would help to save lives. Well, sorry, Jenny, but save lives
for what? So they can go and do it all over again?

JoAnn Fox, Mission

It's atrocious they would even think of bringing this antidote into
the Lower Mainland. Why give junkies another reason to live and
pollute our streets even more? These people choose to shoot-up heroin
in their arms. These people are choosing to basically die. If it's a
choice between polluting our streets and the environment, then let
them die. Don't give them a drug that's going to enable them to
continue using drugs on a daily basis.

Heather Sawracki, Surrey

We make it much too easy for people to stay on drugs and don't give
enough reasons for them to stay off.
