SUSPECTED DRUG TRAFFICKER HAD $2.5 MILLION BURIED IN HIS BACK YARD, FEDS SAY

BROOKSVILLE - Robert R. Boswell apparently owned a lot of green - the
marijuana authorities say he imported to the Tampa Bay area and the more
than $2.5 million they say he buried in his back yard.

Boswell is one of 11 men arrested in Arizona for allegedly shipping about
450 pounds of Mexican marijuana a month from Tucson to Florida, using
drivers posing as tourists and recent transplants.

Digging up Boswell's yard last weekend, agents of the Drug Enforcement
Administration three feet below the surface found coolers and a feed barrel
stuffed with $2,516,399.50. Those two quarters stored among stacks of $100
bills caused agents to laugh.

"I've never seen anything like this," Special Agent Jim Molesa said.

Boswell, who also allegedly stored $384,000 in bank safety deposit boxes,
is charged with one count of drug trafficking. He was arrested April 11 and
remains in federal custody in Arizona.
