As a former executive director of the British Columbia ambulance
service, I wanted to let you know how much my wife (a practicing
paramedic) and I enjoyed Mark Tonner's column.
I also experienced the feeling Tonner described when seeing Narcan in
action.
My wife and I agree with Tonner's analysis of the problem, and would
encourage him to continue telling politician's there are no "quick
fixes" (no pun intended) to the drug-addiction problem - and that the
real key is more treatment programs.
