DRUG CRACKDOWN
City police will today launch a four-month crackdown on known drug
suspects in 26 high-risk areas of Bangkok. Deputy city police chief
Pol Maj-Gen Ukrit Patchimsawat said the offensive would take place
between June 7 and Sept 30.
Each of the 26 stations would have a budget of 10,000-20,000 baht from
the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and they would be awarded an
additional 5,000 baht after each raid, he said. The Royal Thai Police
had also offered the bureau 10 million baht cash to use during fake
drug purchases.
