THE RIGHT THING? LISTEN A MOMENT
Steve Bracks says he won't let community opposition stand in the way of
heroin injecting rooms. Strange, I thought that politicians were supposed
to listen to and represent the people who elected them. But not Mr Bracks.
He says he will do the "right thing" regardless of what the community says.
But the people of Victoria would like to know what is right about allowing
the sale and use of illegal mind-altering drugs. They would like to know
what is right about keeping people enslaved on the downward spiral of drug
addiction. They would like to know what is right about a policy that
condemns addicts to a game of Russian roulette, wondering which will finish
the addict off. They would like to know what is right about spending money
to keep addicts strung out for life instead of spending it on
detoxification and rehabilitation programs.
But the Premier has already decided that the concerns of Victorians will be
ignored, so why bother asking questions?
