DRUG ADDICTION PLAYS NO FAVOURITES
I would like to thank the Ruttans and Halls for sharing with us their
family struggles with addiction (When heroin hits home, June 16). I
agree with their premise that addiction treatment is an essential
health service but sadly lacking in B.C.
I work in public health nursing and in the health care centre of a
local correctional facility plus I volunteer at a local recovery
house. Members of my family struggle with addiction. I have seen
firsthand that drug addiction is no respecter of income, education or
parenting skill. Let's put some energy and resources into this major
health issue that affects us all.
