'ROGUE' HEROIN DEALERS IDENTIFIED

Gardai have identified four dealers who supplied the contaminated heroin at
the centre of a health scare which has resulted in eight deaths in Dublin.
Sixteen addicts have contracted an unidentified infection, with one new
case being confirmed late last week in the Dublin area.

Scientists in Glasgow announced last Thursday that they had identified the
bacterium which they believe caused the infection, but the Eastern Regional
Health Authority said that the particular strain of clostridium under
examination in the Scottish analysis had not been isolated in the Irish cases.
