The modern drug war is futile. People will do as they see fit. They
will follow Heinlein's 11th Commandment: Don't get caught.

Also of note, one of Christ's miracles was turning water to wine at
the request of his mother. If anything, he preached against extreme
measures in either direction.

We were given free will to do as we will. It is inherent in the
pursuit of happiness as outlined in the Declaration of
Independence.
