EX-LINEMAN RELEASED FROM PRISON

PHOENIX (AP) - Former Arizona Cardinals lineman Luis Sharpe was
released from prison on Monday after serving a brief sentence on a
drug charge.

He is not, however, a free man. The Department of Corrections turned
Sharpe, a Cuban citizen, over to the Immigration and Naturalization
Service. He was being detained at the INS facility in Florence, Ariz., said
Russell Ahr, special assistant to the INS director in Phoenix.

Ahr declined to comment specifically on Sharpe's case but said the INS can
detain anyone convicted in a broad group of crimes while it decides whether
to seek deportation.

Sharpe, 40, was sentenced to six months in state prison in early March
after pleading guilty to possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

In 1996, Sharpe was sentenced to a year in prison for violating the
probation he was serving for attempted aggravated assault on a police
officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sharpe has lived in the United States since he was 5 years old but never
became a citizen.
