HERALD WINS RIGHT TO NAME BILLIONAIRE
The New Zealand Herald has won its High Court battle in Auckland to name
the billionaire US businessman who escaped being convicted on a drugs
charge.
The newspaper has been fighting to name the man since he admitted importing
cannabis in January.
However the tycoon's lawyer has managed to secure a reprieve, and all media
have been instructed not to publish his name for five working days.
Marie Dyhrberg also asked for the name suppression issue to be referred
back to the District Court where a judge previously ruled he had no
jurisdiction to lift the suppression order.
But the High Court has today ruled this would be a waste of time and money.
