LAWS PROTEST AT JAILS
A CONVOY calling itself the Freedom Ride will visit NSW jails over the
next two months to protest against current drug laws.
Vans and buses will leave Nimbin in northern NSW tomorrow for what
organisers claim is a journey for justice.
Spokesman Graeme Dunstan said the aim of the Freedom Ride was to bring
attention to the social cost of drug prohibition.
"The NSW prisoner population rose by 8% last year to in excess of 7300
full-time prisoners," Mr Dunstan said from Nimbin.
"An estimated 80% of those inmates have been incarcerated for
drug-related crimes."
