DON'T PULL THE PLUG
Your paper reported that there were 170 police officers at Cyberfest.
According to your reporter, Joan Obra, in the "Police pull welcome mat"
article July 25, an undercover officer stated that making drug arrests was
like "shooting fish in a fish barrel." She reports, however, that only 54
drug-related arrests were made. With 30,000 participants, that does not
sound like many arrests to me. Either the police were lenient, or lazy, or
Cyberfest was more successful than police Capt. Jerry Davis will admit.
Cyberfest was an excellent opportunity to show off Fresno to our next
ruling generation. I think Fresno should think very carefully before
pulling the plug.
