PROBLEM NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY ENOUGH

Khun Sanitsuda said exactly what I had in mind in her Commentary of
June 29 when she wrote: "All Buddhists know that we cannot solve any
suffering or problem unless we know the root causes and solve them
earnestly."

The point here is, we know what are the root causes but just don't
take them seriously.

I agree with the fact that the hill tribes are ready to sell "ya ba"
to earn quick money and that they are to blame. But these hill people
are uneducated and they don't appreciate the consequences of the sale
of each tablet.

Even educated people fall prey to these drugs, but the uneducated are
worse off. It is not necessary for them to be addicts. If they get
hold of drugs they will never be able to keep them for themselves.
That is because a four baht tablet can bring 120 baht-plus.

But if these tablets fall into the hands of our children, what will be
our future? A drugged future? That sounds too scary.
