NURSE IS SENTENCED TO DEATH
Pressure was mounting on the British Government last night to intervene in
the case of a British psychiatric nurse who was sentenced to death in
Malaysia yesterday for smuggling heroin.
David Chell (57), from Stoke-on-Trent, an academic who once wrote a paper
on the misuse of drugs, was found guilty of trafficking heroin after a
seven-month trial, and immediately sentenced to death by hanging. The
father of two has always denied the charge.
