SENATOR'S SON ARRESTED ON MARIJUANA POSSESSION CHARGES
GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) -- The 40-year-old son of Republican Sen. Richard
Lugar was arrested on marijuana possession charges after being pulled over
for expired license plates.
Robert Lugar, manager of the town of McCordsville, pleaded innocent
Thursday and posted $200 bail.
A sheriff's deputy was giving Lugar a ticket Wednesday when he noticed the
smell of marijuana, Sheriff Nick Gulling said. The deputy found a plastic
bag filled with pot under a floor mat of the Jeep, Gulling said.
``He denied the marijuana was his,'' the sheriff said.
Lugar did not immediately return a message left for him at the McCordsville
town hall. His home number is unpublished.
A spokesman for his father did not immediately return a call. The senator
is seeking a fifth term in November.
