WEST VAN ON RENTAL WATCH FOR GROW-OPS
Police launched a rental watch program yesterday to counter the growing
trend of marijuana-grow operations in upscale West Vancouver.
Under the program, landlords and property managers register the address of
their rental property with police. They then get a package outlining
strategies to help screen for potential pot-growing tenants. Police will
monitor the property, but the registration will not contain information on
the occupants. West Van police have busted 24 grow-ops this year, twice as
many as in all of last year.
